MAFISTO
Harold “Mafisto” Durrett has spent his entire life immersed in music. A native of Tennessee, he was raised in a family deeply rooted in the industry. His mother sang lead in her church choir and was invited to perform with the legendary gospel group The Dynamic Dixie Travelers. His uncle played drums for renowned blues singer Ruth Brown, while his cousin performed with gospel pioneer Bobby Jones.
Harold began his career as a DJ, performing at colleges, weddings, hotels, and special events throughout the region. He later formed the band Bullet Proof Souls, which quickly built a local following and eventually attracted the attention of Warner Bros. Records through its Swerve label.
Over the years, Mafisto shifted his focus toward music production, songwriting, and artist development. His production and songwriting credits include collaborations and projects involving Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Bizzy Bone on Heaven’z Movie, the R&B group Day to Day, and work associated with Capitol Records.
His career has also connected him with respected artists, producers, and industry professionals including BeBe & CeCe Winans, Curt Ryle, Taylor Swift, Omarion, producer Tommy Sims, and Teddy Riley.
Mafisto’s work extends into film and television, including music placement in the film Love Beat the Hell Outta Me, starring Terrence Howard and Glenn Plummer. He has also contributed to projects connected to American Idol and the Hulu series Trouble.
Today, Mafisto continues to develop artists, create music, and build brands as the co-founder of SQUAD100 alongside partner Tyree “Chillmode.” With decades of experience spanning performance, songwriting, production, film, television, and artist development, Mafisto remains committed to creating impactful music and opportunities for the next generation of talent.
